Is buying a used car with a newly installed engine too risky?

im looking at an '02 trailblazer that has a newly installed engine with 58k miles put on it. what i am asking is it to risky to buy a used car with a newly installed engine? they are asking 5800 for it. my dad says its a red flag. what do you car experts think? any input would be appreciated. thank you :))
